3 EMPOWERING CHAIR YOGA POSES FOR STRENGTH

Video

Description

I love finding ways to celebrate what the body CAN do rather than focusing on what we can’t do or on what we used to be able to do but can’t do anymore. This brings our awareness to the present moment and allows us to make peace with our bodies.

I used to struggle so much with muscle weakness due to my illness and also from being deconditioned as a result of being so fatigued and unable to exercise. I felt really aggravated that I couldn’t do a lot of the standing poses I wanted to do, poses I had been able to do before. But I discovered that I actually COULD do them if I modified them with a chair! I could still make the same shapes and strengthen the same muscles. This revelation was so empowering! It took my attention off of what I couldn’t do and made me aware of the miracle that is my body. Now, months later, I’m feeling good, stronger in my body, and I am working on more standing poses without assistance.

Whatever we are capable of doing is worth doing, and every time we practice, we are making progress by strengthening the body and bringing our awareness home to ourselves. That awareness is really the most important part.

I would love for you to be able to experience this too, so today I am sharing three of my favorite empowering chair yoga poses.
